Job Information
Located in Yellowknife the Territorial Specialist, Cancer Analytics will report directly to the Territorial Manager, Cancer Care (TMCC) and is responsible to inform decisions for the provision of safe, quality care to clients and families within cancer care services and programs and provide reporting on quality outcomes. This position’s focus is to inform and evaluate the effective delivery and implementation of territorial cancer programs and services.
The Territorial Specialist, Cancer Analytics, is responsible and accountable for advising the strategic planning, monitoring, implementation, and evaluation of cancer care, and for the advising on the implementation of changes as a result of evaluations of cancer care programs and services. This position provides advanced methodological and data analysis support to the NTHSSA and its partners as well as coordinating all data requests through partners like Statistics Canada, the Canadian Institute for Health Information, and provincial/territorial cancer registries, the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer, among others. The incumbent will research the need, logistics, and requirements to expand programs to Territorial-wide services.
This position is part of the team of specialized staff within the cancer care team. The Territorial Specialist, Cancer Analytics will be granted Public Health Officer status under the NWT Public Health Act.
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
A Masters in biostatistics, epidemiology or related field and a minimum of 5 years proven experience working with Canadian health data, conducting analyses and providing interpretation of results. Experience with cancer data preferred including experience working in cancer control at local, provincial, or federal levels.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
