The Grande Prairie Friendship Centre’s Babies’ Best Start program is looking for a unique candidate to fill the Community Outreach Worker position. The successful candidate will host Mom and Tot groups in Hythe, Wembley, Grovedale, Clairmont and Sexsmith sharing information and education on topics ranging from Pregnancy to supporting children prepare for kindergarten. We are looking for someone passionate about supporting mothers and children. The position is Part-time 28 hours per week Monday to Thursday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and at least one Friday a month.
Qualifications:
· Must have valid drivers’ license and vehicle (Travel Required)
· Have valid First Aid with CPR
· Background in Social Work and/or Child Development or work experience would be preferred
· Organizational skills with attention to detail
Requirements:
· Clear Criminal Record Check
· Clear Child Welfare Intervention Check
Responsibilities:
· Provide Program Coordinator with monthly reports, timesheets, and financial receipts
· To phone potential clients (self, family, or partner agency referral) on a weekly and/or biweekly basis ensuring files are kept up to date
· Inform clients of upcoming programming/sessions encouraging participation and addressing any barriers to attendance ie. Bus ticket availability
· Establish connections and arrange meetings with current and new clients
· Meet with Babies’ Best Start clients one on one to access and provide appropriate services.
· Keep client records, prepare program reports. Maintain stats for programming and record suggestions from clients for programming
· Attend community meetings
· Initiate and maintain relationships with community agencies that serve Babies’ Best Start clients
· Plan weekly mother’s group by scheduling presenters, following work plan programming, presenting and facilitating, recording clients attending, etc.
· Plan and execute additional programs and arrange presenters
· Set-up room and all resources before start time of group. Attend to needs of presenter and introduce to group
· Provide programming to Clairmont, Grande Prairie, Grovedale, Hythe, Sexsmith and Wembley as needed in coordination with second Outreach worker
· Assess clients and provide prenatal vitamins, vitamin D and milk coupons as needed
· Maintain confidentiality of clients
· Assist with childcare in the Playroom when needed
· Shared responsibility of the Playroom and equipment ie. Cleaning and sterilization of toys
· Report any incidents to Program Coordinator and follow reporting procedures
· Adhere to Grande Prairie Friendship Centre policies and procedures
· Participate in any training as required
· Perform other related duties as required
· Ability to adapt to changing COVID-19 guidelines
· Ability to learn and use multiple online platforms. (ie. Google Drive, Zoom, Canva, social media, Microsoft 365)

Salary: $20.00 per hour
