Partners in Canadian Veterans Rehabilitation Services (PCVRS) provides comprehensive rehabilitation focused assessment and intervention for Canadian Veterans who are experiencing barriers transitioning to life after service due to service related injuries or illness. Using a biopsychosocialspiritual approach, the assessment and intervention services are performed by an interdisciplinary team of clinicians with expertise in the management of complex conditions such as chronic pain, persistent symptoms following head injury, MSK injuries, often with comorbid mental illness with presenting psychosocial barriers to recovery.
Lifemark’s PCVRS program is delivered on behalf of Veterans Affairs Canada and in partnership with WCG, and we are currently seeking a Director of Research to join the team in support of this vital program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direction on research initiatives to ensure safe, effective, efficient and innovative approaches to medical, psycho-social and vocational rehabilitation for Canadian Veterans and their families participating in the Rehabilitation Services and Vocational Assistance Program (RSVP) provided by Partners in Canadian Veterans Rehabilitation Services (PCVRS)
- Establish policies and procedures applicable to research in PCVRS, including ensuring that evaluation and research methods are appropriate and lead to a Veteran-centric approach with a goal of continuous quality improvement
- Facilitate obtaining alignment and approval with Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) - VAC approval is required for any qualitative, quantitative or public opinion research being considered through the use of surveys, questionnaires, focus groups, web testing, interviews, consultations or evaluations
- Ensure that research activities comply with Government of Canada requirements as per the Directive on the Management of Communications: https://www.tbs-sct.canada.ca/pol/doc-eng.aspx?id=30682
- Establish and foster foundational relationships with research partners, including the VAC Research Directorate as appropriate
- Monitor for trends in research findings in the Veteran population and facilitate knowledge transfer within PCVRS
- Provide insight into data collection and evaluation practices aligned with best practices
- Work with Performance and Quality Management Team as well as the Service Delivery team to drive research practices, evaluate, analyze and give direction on recommended improvement initiatives
- Participate in knowledge sharing initiatives or communities of practice as required
- Participate in the PCVRS Rehabilitation Services Advisory Committee and other committees as required
Qualifications:
- You hold an undergraduate degree; an advanced degree or a Masters in research is preferred with a minimum 10 years’ experience developing, researching, writing, managing, and implementing thought leadership around complex issues.
- You have experience conducting Veteran rehabilitation specific research.
- Employment conditional on obtaining Federal Level Security Clearance Reliability Status
- You have experience leading research teams and undertaking complex research projects.
- You are a passionate storyteller, problem solver and big picture thinker
- You are highly organized and able to synthesize information and present it concisely.
- You have a strong aptitude for healthcare subject matter
- You are an exceptional multi-tasker with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- You are a critical and strategic thinker, a consensus builder and an influencer able to drive decisions to closure
