Betel Home Foundation operates an 80 bed personal care home in Gimli, Manitoba and a 91 bed personal care home in Selkirk, Manitoba.
We are accepting applications for the position of Director of Resident Care at our Gimli site.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Resident Care will be a leader and innovator who is accountable for promoting excellence in nursing practice and for providing the highest level of resident Care. As an integral part of the management team, you will direct and coordinate all activities related to the care of residents and will ensure compliance with all provincial standards.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor of Nursing Degree.
· Minimum five years long term care nursing experience, and a minimum of 3 years in a senior management position.
· Current registration with CRNM
· This position is out of scope. The hours are Monday to Friday Days, but may involve some evening and weekend work.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the development, management, implementation and evaluation of Resident care programs, administrative and human resource management, fiscal management, policy development, professional standards, program planning, quality management, staff education, professional development and management of equipment and supplies.
Provides leadership and support to the facility in the following areas of responsibility:
· Ensures that the quality of resident care management is consistent with the mission and strategic plan of Betel Home. Includes monitoring and evaluating annual objectives / actions plans for the department.
· Ensure and participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
· Participates in program planning which is based on resident satisfaction, research based evidence and cost effective resident care
· Establishes and maintains communication including communication with the interdisciplinary team, physicians and outside agencies, to ensure continuity of resident care
· Provides direction and assistance to the staff in the management of resident and family centered care
· Maintains awareness of safety, security and emergency policies and procedures and ensures staff adherence to same
Human Resources:
· Hire and select staff, as well as managing human resources and applying policies and collective agreements.
· Provides leadership to create an environment conducive to effective working relationships
· Establishes standards for employee performance and monitors performance, including conducting performance appraisals
Program Planning:
· Participates in the development of plans for new programs and revision of existing programs in collaboration with the CEO, including identifying needs, researching feasibility, coordinating analysis of information, establishing logistics, formalizing proposals and implementing and conducting ongoing monitoring and evaluation
· In collaboration with the CEO and Clinical Nurse Manager, assists with facilitating and identifying activities related to education, teaching, resident care and research
· In collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Manager, coordinates the Infection Prevention and Control Program.
Quality Management:
· In collaboration with the Care Team, participates in a continuous improvement/risk management/utilization review program
Education and Research:
· Serves as a resource to staff and other health care professionals in collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Manager
· Collaborates with the Clinical Nurse Manager to identify, plan and facilitate implementation and evaluate orientation and staff development programs.

Salary: $101,574.00-$120,627.00 per year
