VIA Rail Canada Inc., Canada's national passenger rail service, is currently seeking a motivated team-player to fill a position on the team as a Red Seal Electrician, working from our esteemed Mission Maintenance Centre location.
Day in a life as Red Seal Electrician at VIA Rail
As an Electrician for Via Rail, you will perform electrical duties on locomotives and passenger cars, including our HVAC equipment. You will have the overall responsibilities of all electrical equipment, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and lighting systems.
You will install, repair, and replace electrical controls and panel boxes, test and measure voltage, loads, ground faults integrity of circuits for all electrical equipment.
You will also conduct preventive maintenance programs.
The position is permanent (40 hours per week guaranteed) and the work schedule may vary (day, evening, night, weekend, and holidays).
Candidates must be available to work any day of the week as the Maintenance Center is open 7 days a week during peak season. Shifts may start as early as 6:00 am and end as late as midnight.

Requirements :
A Red Seal in Electricity
Previous experience with troubleshooting and electrical equipment
Excellent teamwork skills and strong problem-solving abilities
Availability to work different shifts (days, evenings, nights) including weekends and holidays
Assets:
Qualifications or experience in electromechanics and/or HVAC
A professional or technical degree in refrigeration
Having completed an industrial electrical apprenticeship
Condition of Employment:
Previous experience with troubleshooting and electrical equipment
