As Facilities Mechanical Engineering associate, you will involved with Project Management, including: project theme creation, technical investigations, cost justification and budget tracking, presentations (E-Flow Method), bid process, co-ordination of design, installation/construction, co-ordination and supervision of contractors. You will be responsible for identifying and implementing energy conservation activities related facilities equipment e.g Chillers, Boilers, air compressors etc. for GHG reduction and energy conservation. You will have opportunity to support Equipment Services (ES) staff on problem solving, root cause analysis related to facilities equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Previous experience and/or capability to Design and implement mechanical systems including HVAC, compressed air, chillers, hot water and steam boilers, tank farms and controls for small, medium, and large scales of project.
- Investment budget planning for new assets, EOL replacements of current assets (up to 2M$).
- Coordinate with group of engineers in diverse field of Architectural, Structural, Civil and Electrical Engineering disciplines.
- Interact with Senior management in a formal setting for project approvals and updates.
- Lead team of external Engineers, Contractors and consultants for executing medium to large scale Mechanical construction projects.
- Maintain project management system integrity by following policies and procedures. Conduct field installation supervision, commissioning and training as required.
- Create new or Review and Approve design briefs, scopes of work, drawings and documents prior to tender.
- Root cause analysis on complex matters related to Facilities operations in field of Mechanical Engineering.
- Assist Equipment Services group to troubleshoot field problems as required.
- Work in close coordination with EV (Environmental) group to identify, support and implement Reduction activities in Energy, Water and waste fields.
Position Requirements:
- University degree in a Mechanical engineering with a minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience. P.Eng. Designation or working towards a designation is preferrable.
- Capable of understanding and adapting to management style (Fast pace, urgency to address issues etc.) of large successful manufacturing establishment.
- Strong knowledge of local & international regulation/legislation/codes, both industrial and construction applications such as TSSA rated plant requirements, ESA/CSA requirements, Ontario Building code, ASHRAE standards, NFPA, etc.
- Strong computer skills related to Smartsheets, Microsoft, Excel and Power Point to prepare and present business case for Projects.
- Project Leader and Project Management experience with construction projects.
- Ability to create, read and review design drawings.
Job Related Must Haves:
- Willing to work overtime as per job requirements
- Willing to change shifts to investigate specific issues
- Willing to modify work hours for weekend work when required
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Independent and teamwork experience, capable of working with minimal supervision, with progressive job growth and responsibility.
- Working familiarity with electrical & mechanical systems including power generation, electrical distribution systems, HVAC, compressed air, chillers, hot water and steam boilers, tank farms, biological wastewater treatment and building management & Building controls systems
- Understanding of Purchasing and Accounting systems (Ariba, SAP, Capitalizations etc.)
- Being able to effective and persuasively communicate with high performance individuals on subject matters
- Previous experience with hands on approach to troubleshooting equipment processes
- Being able to start on job without much guidance
