We are currently recruiting for a Field Service Technician - Engine & Compression Solutions, based in Grande Prairie. The successful candidate will be tasked with supporting our customers on a range of Spartan products and solutions related to our Engine and Compression business unit. This is an opportunity for individuals who want to work with a leading automation supplier, providing innovative solutions based on industry-recognized technologies in some of the largest installations in the world. The position will report to the General Manager, Peace Region.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Provide on-demand field service support to gas compression control and ignition applications, with a focus on products and solutions sold through our E&C Solutions division, such as:
• REMVue, Programmable Logical Controllers (PLC), and Murphy Shutdown & Control Systems
• Ignition systems and their components
• On-Site start-up and commissioning services for all of our E&C products and solutions
• Involvement in installation and repair of other products Spartan Controls supplies to the oil and gas industry which include:
• Fisher valves, regulators, Rosemount transmitters (flow, level, temperature)
• MicroMotion coriolis meters, IMI vibration sensors
• Quality assurance on new equipment including testing new hardware and debugging new software
• Telephone customer support on E&C products and solutions
• Interfacing with Internal and external customers
• Participating in our 7/24 on call rotation
• Frequent domestic travel with potential travel to the US and other International countries

Qualifications and Skills:

• Instrumentation/Electrical Engineering Technology diploma, Journeyman Instrument or Electrician Technician Certificate with 3-5 years related industry experience
• Experience with industrial software and familiarity with computer hardware fundamentals; programming experience is an asset
• Experience with Rotating Equipment and Engine understanding is an asset.

• Solid customer service habits and practices
• Self-directed and able to work independently, as well as in a team environment
• Ability to produce quality documentation in a timely and accurate manner
• Physical requirements: able to drive long distances (typically in the range of 2 to 6 hours one way); occasional moderate lifting (ie: up to approximately 25 kg)
• Valid Alberta driver's license, safe driving record and willing to travel, both to domestic and international destinations
• Entrepreneurial work ethic
• This position has been deemed as safety sensitive – successful candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment alcohol and drug test

The training provided for this opportunity will consist of formal training, mentoring, and partnering with other experienced Field Service Technicians. The successful candidate must be located within daily travel distance to Grande Prairie, Alberta or Fort St. John, British Columbia.
