POSITION TITLE: Skill Development Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Technical Director

POSITION TYPE: Part-time (20 hours/week)

COMPENSATION: $20-23/hour



Job Overview

The Skill Development Coach will be primarily responsible for the following programs:
one-on-one training, small group training sessions, Junior Gryphon Soccer School,
recreational Futsal and All Star. The successful candidate will have experience leading
programs effectively by creating a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for all players.
The SDC will promote an environment that fosters learning for all participants.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

On Field

  • Lead sessions in accordance with Guelph Soccer development objectives and
curriculum.
  • Lead and mentor a team of supporting coaches (Skills Instructors) to ensure that
a high standard of programming is delivered.
  • Work alongside team head coaches or age group lead coaches to deliver high-
quality training sessions within the rep development program.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to all participants.
  • Ensure on-site safety of participants.
  • Ensure that players have the best possible training and playing experiences.
  • Attend coach development sessions as scheduled by Guelph Soccer Technical

Director.

In Office

  • Create session plans using our online session planning platform.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service (conduct and communication) to all

participants when necessary.

  • Work cooperatively with other club officials, and any other volunteers.
  • Conduct ongoing player feedback and parent communication.
  • Complete a yearly development plan in collaboration with the Technical

Director.

  • Complete a program report at the conclusion of every program.
  • Attend by-weekly meetings with the Technical Director.


Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum Learn to Train/C License and above is preferred (or action plan to

obtain licenses) - 3 years coaching experience at a Grassroots level and Soccer

For Life level is preferred.

  • Experience leading and developing programming is preferred.
  • Strong playing background to demonstrate techniques is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supervising part time staff
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience developing and working with an annual periodization plan
  • Strong management and leadership skills.
  • Growth mindset and willingness to learn.
  • Computer Proficiency.
  • Police Check (Police Vulnerable Sector Check) required.

Role Summary and Expectations:

  • Be available to work throughout weekend dates (throughout regularly

scheduled programming dates).

  • Successful candidates are expected to wear a Guelph Soccer training uniform to

all sessions.
