In the Hatchery Technician role you will experience all the duties of a Hatchery Technician including, feeding, grading/counting or measuring fish, mortality removal, site security, routine maintenance and clean up, daily checks and reporting, record keeping and document management, assist with brood stock program, monitoring fish behaviour, appearance and health while ensuring safety and biosecurity measures are being followed.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Our ideal candidates would be safety oriented and willing to work in a team environment with a passion for the industry. They would possess:
- Related post-secondary education and/or experience within the industry
- Salmonid Recirculation Facility experience
- Well-developed English verbal and written communication
- Data collection and document management knowledge
- Physical ability to complete repetitive tasks
- Respect for the need for safe working practices
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Able to work safely and effectively in varying weather conditions
- Flexible approach to working to meet the demands of the job
- Ability to work 12 hours per day on a 4 day on, 4 day off shift
