HEALTH & SAFETY SUPERINTENDENT / ENVIRONMENTAL
COORDINATOR

Reporting to the General Manager, H &S Superintendent/Environmental Coordinator is responsible for: 

Ensure compliance in the application of Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, and Prevention
Program. 

Conduct regular inspections to identify non-compliance or at-risk situations. 
Ensure that H&S management meetings are of high quality such as welcome/orientation, site committee, safety

breaks and special meetings if required. 
Assists in carrying out inspections of workplaces and takes necessary action to ensure compliance. 
Assists in responding to and investigating concerns/complaints from workers/employers and assists in taking

appropriate action. 
Assists in investigating accidents or injuries that occur in the workplace 
Conduct and coordinate environmental work on a wide variety of projects to monitor compliance with legal

and other requirements 

Prepare environmental reports

 Provide overall project management services to ensure deliverables are provided on time, within scope and

on budget 

Review current and proposed legislated standards, regulations and / or guidelines established by various

ministries, and environmental assessments undertaken by other agencies.

Requirements: 

Post-secondary degree or diploma in a health and safety or related field. 

Exceptional knowledge of Federal, Provincial and Municipal laws and regulations in Health and Safety 

Knowledge of environmental regulations, including waste, energy, water, conservation, and

environmental protection. 
Previous experience in an industrial environment, sawmill preferred 

Excellent safety record and strong work ethic 

Strong people skills are required 

Working knowledge of relevant computer software programs, e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS
PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
