KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES


  • Performing a variety of janitorial services of a heavy duty nature and related special assignments at various TTC locations including auto-scrubbing; pressure washing; stripping/sealing/reconditioning floors, stairs and cove basis; cleaning walls, stairs; washroom sanitizing; carpet shampooing, etc. and other janitorial duties, as assigned
  • Operating a variety of routine or heavy duty equipment (e.g. floor scrubber, polisher, buffer, burnisher, grinder, pressure washer, steam cleaner, vacuum, generator, carpet shampooing machine, washroom sanitizing machine, etc.) in order to perform work assignments
  • Performing various special assignments such as light restorative grinding, reconditioning, densifying, stripping and sealing terrazzo, etc.
  • Performing overhead luxalon cleaning duties at assigned work locations
  • Performing routine maintenance on all equipment, maintaining supplies and restocking of same; ordering inventory through supervisory staff
  • Assisting with lifting, moving and loading/unloading of various materials/equipment
  • Operating a non-revenue vehicle, as required
  • Collecting waste and recyclables and loading same in the appropriate bins

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES CONTINUED


  • Setting up/operating scaffolds, automated work platforms, scissor lifts and boom lifts, as required
  • Completing routine forms, records, etc. as required
  • Responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within the area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service-provider and an employer.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE


  • Previous janitorial or commercial cleaning experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and express self clearly
  • Must possess a valid, non-probationary, Province of Ontario class “G” driver’s licence or better
  • Required to complete TTC training related to the job responsibilities (e.g. work methods, safety practices, customer service, etc.)
  • Attend and successfully complete the TTC’s training programs for WHMIS; Subway/SRT Rule Book certification; Fall Protection Awareness; Scaffold Safety; Motorized Lifting Devices; Defensive Driving; Trailer Coupling/Uncoupling and Reversing’ Emergency First Aid and other related TTC programs deemed necessary by management;
  • Required to read, understand and comply with all standard operating procedures and workplace procedures
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees
