Italian Heritage Language Instructor Job at Sudbury Catholic District School Board
Program runs Saturdays 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (2.5 hours), January 7th, 2023 to June 17th, 2023
Location - St. Albert Adult Learning Center

The Sudbury Catholic District School Board is located in Northeastern Ontario and serves approximately 6,000 students in 18 schools located in Greater Sudbury, as well as in Markstay and Killarney.
Our School Board is host to and celebrates diverse cultures and is comprised of dedicated staff committed to high quality education that inspires and promotes lifelong learning. The Board is currently seeking an Italian Heritage Language Instructor that has a passion for working in a school environment.
The Instructor will deliver quality programs, providing students with the opportunity to appreciate another culture and learn an additional language, other than English or French including cultural experiences, which may include field trips.
REQUIREMENTS:
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
Sound knowledge of and appreciation for the Italian culture and customs
Knowledge of a variety of teaching strategies to ensure an active and engaging way of learning the language and culture
An understanding of second language teaching methodology
Approximately 2 years related experience with teaching languages and/or tutoring
Fluent in oral and written Italian language
Self-starter and ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to provide a safe learning environment for all learners
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to communicate and relate with people tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Excellent motivation, group dynamics and interpersonal skills
Basic computer skills
Ability to provide regular attendance
Willingness to organize cultural field trips
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Education and a member in Good Standing with the Ontario College of Teachers is an asset
Salary based on qualifications, minimum $24.27 per hour – maximum $ 30.35 per hour
