Kettle Operator / Mixer
Pacific Coast Fruit Products Ltd is a progressive, globally recognized fruit processing and trading company located in Abbotsford, BC. We have an immediate opening for a Kettle Operator / Mixer. Kettle Operators primary responsibility is to operate Cooking Kettles to prepare batches of fruit filling according to detailed specifications.
What will you do:
· Follow detailed product formulations.
· Accurately Measure and load ingredients into cooking kettles according to product specifications.
· Ensure product quality meets all specifications and report any out of spec (visual observation, identifying changes in product quality etc.)
· Inspect & clean machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization prior and during the run.
· Operating PLC (Program Logical Controls) system to monitor, control process variables.
· Follow and adhere to all given instructions including work procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
· Strictly adhere to and observe all safety policies.
· Provides support and coverage for Operators, Material Handler and general labour / other duties as assigned (see Additional Information).
What we are looking for:
· Highly detail oriented, focused on completing all steps precisely and accurately.
· Keen observation skills – able to identify batch irregularities and out of specification.
· Comprehend and follow written instructions and recipes to exact detail, adding ingredients and cooking fillings.
· Requires good written and verbal communication.
· Able to thoroughly and accurately document records.
· Strong computer and math skills.
· Quick learner and process oriented.
Additional Information – When not preparing fillings, Kettle Operators will be trained to provide relief coverage as Operators, Material Handlers and General Labour. Detailed training will be provided and flexibility with scheduling is essential. Kettle mixing hours will increase as testing concludes and will be based on sales demand.
Work Environment & Job Demands
· Food processing facilities, primarily indoor work, but outdoor work will be required – all weather conditions.
· Noise exposure: moderate to high.
· Work near moving mechanical parts, hot equipment, and hot fillings.
· Forklift Certificate (will train).
· Heavy lifting, up to 50 lbs.
Work Schedule:
· Monday to Thursday 7:00 am – 5:30 pm
