The Maintenance manager will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operation of the maintenance department. Responsible for ensuring highly diversified duties within a production environment to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems are achieved, and processes are implemented to support the achievement of Rossdown’s business goals and objectives.

Responsibilities:

Operations

  • Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the facility's equipment
  • Oversees and is responsible for yearly code inspection certificates are acquired (Elec. permit, Boiler inspections, Fire Alarm Inspection, and etc.)
  • Backup for Maintenance tradesman when required
  • Responsible for short-term planning and keeping appropriate authorities aware of decisions being made
  • Participates in the contract negotiations and maintenance of ongoing relationships with a variety of vendors
  • Ensure maintenance shop and parts room are organized & inventoried
  • Set priorities for preventative maintenance work orders, maintenance requisitions and scheduled work

Leadership

  • Interface with all other departments to ensure a cooperative effort
  • Oversees the work schedules of assigned personnel to meet completion dates, technical specifications and budget limits
  • Provides project management and technical leadership
  • Comply with safety regulations and ensure high quality / cleanliness of departmental
  • Initiate safety concerns and makes judgment on the best methods of completing tasks
  • Management of direct reports including – hiring, performance management (counselling conversations), and holding employee accountable
  • Coordinate contractors’ activities as required
  • Engage in a leadership role within the management team
  • Bring forth new ideas to improve on existing production processes
  • Be a leader in changing the company’s culture to culture of ownership

Administration

  • Prepare monthly reports, report on budget status, and develop yearly maintenance budget
  • Maintain inventory of new equipment, manuals and warranties
  • Ensure system for timely completion of Maintenance Repairs and Minor Production Improvements
  • Monitor and report on inventory status
  • Ensure implementation of Preventive Maintenance Program

Capital Projects

  • Manage, design & implementation of capital projects
  • Ensure that appropriate resources are provided to enable engineering support be provided for all projects in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Accountable for delivery of projects within schedules and timelines.
  • Plans and directs all aspects of the engineering activities within the organization
  • Oversee the functioning of building systems including mechanical, electrical, and fire safety
  • Maintenance of building and oversee contractors for facilities renovation projects entailing mechanical, electrical, and maintenance
  • Maintain contacts with local, provincial, and national officials with regards to any activities that could have a material impact on the business

Requirements:

  • Licensed Electrical / Mechanical Technical Graduate an asset
  • Completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and Maintenance Coordination experience
  • 5 years supervisory experience & 3 years in food engineering environment
  • Strong leadership and communication skills (both verbal & written)
  • Strong oral & written skills, proven ability to communicate in an ESL work environment
  • Ability to maintain organization of maintenance schedule and files in a changing environment
  • Able to create alternative solutions to problems
  • Excellent time management and project management skills
  • High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise necessary cost control measures
  • Able to work well under pressure and pays strong attention to details
  • Ability to work shift on off shifts and follow up on trouble calls as required.

Salary: $110,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
