ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
The Manager, Finance Shared Services, leads financial operations teams (accounts receivable, accounts payable, revenue, auditing and payroll) as well as continuous development and planning of individual finance processes. This position enables business success and service delivery by providing execution of finance support services while ensuring integration across ONTC’s operating divisions.
MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and lead the day-to-day functions of revenue & auditing, accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll
- Lead Finance Shared Services process improvement initiatives as well as identify possible process improvement that could affect Finance in all operating groups
- Provide a high level of customer service to the groups and external stakeholders (including agencies and vendors)
- Setting direction and goals within the four teams of Finance Shared Services, as well as managing all KPI’s for finance shared services
- Perform reviews on processes, costs, structures and ensure all teams meet objectives of ONTC, implement changes where necessary
- Liaison and build relationships with similar organizations or departments on best practices, implement any changes that would benefit ONTC
- Manage union grievances, disciplinary actions and performance objectives
- Provide oversight, training, coaching and guidance to the finance shared services team
- Provide outside-the-box thinking to achieve satisfactory results from unique requests
- Act as the subject matter expert in the financial portions of projects or integrating other projects into finance
- Plan and integrate projects into the various teams while maintaining employee buy-in and budget requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
- University degree in Accounting, Finance or Business or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- CPA designation is an asset
- 5+ years’ experience in financial management processes (accounts receivable/payable or payroll)
- Previous supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized environment
- Strong computer skills especially the use of Microsoft Excel. Experience needed in downloading and manipulating data. AS400 and Sequel or other “query” based computer software training or experience are a definite asset
- Strong understanding of finance transaction processing processes (Order-to-Cash, Record-to-Report, Procure-to-Pay and Hire-to-Retire) and keeps current on new advancements, and industry / functional leading practices
- Strong knowledge of public sector accounting principles and concepts
- Strong knowledge of public procurement processes, directives and government policies
- Previous experience administrating collective agreements
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, planning, coordinating, organizing and time management skills
- Ability to meet strict deadlines
- Exceptional customer service, interpersonal and leadership skills
- Must be committed to Company Health and Safety standards and expectations
- Knowledge of Rail, Motor Coach, and Remanufacturing industries is an asset
