The purpose of the Indigenous Relations Department is to plan, support, coordinate and advance Cultural Safety through research & development, continuous business improvement initiatives, and priorities identified by Indigenous Advisory Committee, Leadership, or provincial mandate.
The Role:
As the Manager, Indigenous Services & Partnerships at CLBC, you will provide province-wide leadership, working closely with Head Office Departments and Regional Operations to develop innovative approaches to advancing CLBC's relationships with First Nations, Metis, Inuit, partners and Urban indigenous agencies. In this dynamic position, you will focus on service design and Indigenous partner engagement to meet CLBC's goal of Service Delivery to Support Cultural Safety. This includes Service Design & Improvement to meet Indigenous Priorities within our mandate and sector, through quality improvement activities, change management, research, and evaluation, and advising CLBC on smooth implementation.
Duties include:
- Establishing and sustaining effective working relationships with First Nations, Metis, and Indigenous organizations, key provincial organizations, and authorities in BC.
- Designing and implementing strategies aimed at raising CLBC's profile with Indigenous Partners and Service Organizations ensuring that they have a comprehensive understanding of CLBC's service model.
- Responsible for the Indigenous Services Canada file which includes liaison with MSDPR and Indigenous Services Canada.
- Identifying service design and improvement strategies and assess service effectiveness to enable CLBC to work effectively to meet the needs of Indigenous priorities within our mandate and sector.
- Mentoring and supporting team members including supporting cross team collaboration, development of a positive learning organizational culture within and across teams and building the capacity of team members to demonstrate leadership and fulfil the team's mandate.
- Providing leadership and direction to a growing team of Indigenous focused facilitators including recruitment, training, performance management, leave approvals, discipline and responding to staff grievances.
You will also be responsible for supervising a growing team with involvement in recruitment, onboarding, and supervision.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a related field and preferably a minimum five years' experience working in both the government systems and with Indigenous Peoples in the community
- Preference for 1-3 years of management/leadership experience. An understanding of the various jurisdictions is critical.
Location: Utilizing a hybrid working model, this position combines on-site office work with work-from-home flexibility.
Travel: Regular overnight travel as required to all communities within the catchment area of Community Living BC. Use of own vehicle on expenses. Possession of a Class 5 driver's license and a clean driver's abstract is required.
