Pay: $22.15
Job Summary
Reporting to the Supervisor - Internal Logistics and working closely with the production team, the Material Handler is responsible for the movement of materials, with the appropriate equipment, throughout the plant. This includes incoming material as well as in-process material to service the production personnel.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Loading and unloading of trucks
- Moving received materials to either stock or dedicated drop-off locations
- Moving work in process materials from one work center to another following the routing steps on a work order
- Servicing internal customers to support production operations
- Picking and packing items to replenish stock items required to meet production demands
- Able to identify, sort and deliver incoming material from outside processing
- Manage issuing raw materials for discrete jobs
- Safely operate a Tugger, lift trucks, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma
- Minimum 1-year experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment
- Valid forklift certification with a safe driving record. Lift trucks include (stand up electric forklifts, stand up electric reach trucks for indoor use, and counterbalance forklifts for outdoor use)
- Experience with stacking pallets, loading/unloading trucks, order picking
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment with minimal supervision
- Good communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external customers
- Ability to work as a team player as well as independently.
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement manufacturing principles considered an asset
- Ability to follow a safety-first philosophy
Physical Effort:
Normal or frequent moderate physical effort required for the day-to-day activity in the workplace. Involves standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs and lifting/moving/using objects or equipment up to 5kg/11lbs.
