Kindale Developmental Association is a CARF accredited charitable organization that has been supporting persons with disabilities in the North Okanagan and Columbia-Shuswap region since 1959.
You will be provided with paid training leading to Community Support Worker certification. The training period lasts for approximately 300 hours.
You will have the opportunity to work with persons with disabilities, assisting with personal care, basic cooking, shopping, and household safety. You will also have the opportunity to support Persons Served with community inclusion programs and activities such as: recreational and social activities, art, music, and educational programs.
Requirements
Must be able to communicate effectively in English both oral and written.
Must have an unrestricted Class 5 driver's license and must be willing to obtain an unrestricted Class 4 driver's license within the first two months of employment (training by employer).
Must have a clean driver's abstract.
Must have a clear criminal record search and vulnerable sector search.
Must obtain First Aid certification within the first month of employment (reimbursed upon successful completion).
Must have a negative TB screening.
Must obtain a certificate from a medical doctor indicating fitness to fulfil the job requirements.
Must have Food Safe certificate (or be willing to obtain).
Previous experience working with individuals in a support capacity is considered an asset.
Wages & Benefits
Training Wage (approximately 300 hours): $23.15 (casual rate $21.00 + 10.2% in lieu of benefits)
Upon completion of training: $27.61 (casual rate $25.05 + 10.2% in lieu of benefits)

Work Schedule
Some of our Persons Served are supported 24/7 in residential group homes. You must be available to work all shifts upon completion of the DSW program. 8 or 10 hour shifts (mornings, days, afternoons, evenings, overnight, some weekends and holidays)
