Description:

Under the general direction of the Superintendent of Education, the Manager of Speech Language and Hearing Services is responsible for all aspects of the board’s speech, language, communication and hearing services in all schools of the HWCDSB. This includes early identification, curriculum support, assessment, consultation and intervention for students with special needs. Department leadership including the creation and management of schedules and budget is also required. This job further requires consultation with internal and external stakeholders to align services with board, community and provincial expectations and representation on committees on behalf of the HWCDSB.

Qualifications:

· Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Communication Disorders

· Registered member of CASLPO

· Minimum of 5 years working in an education setting

· Experience with a wide range of student abilities (e.g., mild to severe speech and language delay/disorders, developmental delays/disorders including ASD, use of AAC, etc.

· Knowledge of all aspects of the SLP role in school boards

· Knowledge of community service provisions for SLP (and OT)

· Knowledge of the Education Act related to Special Education, PPMs related to special education and community service provision, Ontario curriculum expectations, inclusive practices

· Knowledge of special education programs and services offered in educational settings

· Proven Leadership experience

· Experience on community/agency committees

· Highly effective communication and presentation skills

· Understanding of the HWCDSB Each Belongs philosophy

· Strong organizational skills

· Experience with creating and managing schedules and budget is an asset

(Range $95,592 - $119,357)
