The gig

The Pet Care Provider will work as an independent contractor under Arlo & Company. The hours of work will vary and may include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The number of hours/services cannot be guaranteed and may fluctuate based on the season.

What you'll do as a Pet Care Provider

• Provide force-free & fear-free care to pets in Waterloo Region.
• Provide pets with appropriate food, clean water, and any required oral/topical medications.
• Provide creative indoor & outdoor enrichment activities for pets (including but not limited to dog walking).
• Create a positive client experience with text/photo updates during services.
• Provide a comprehensive Summary Report email at the end of every service completed.
• Complete basic home maintenance such as watering plants, garbage removal, mail collection, etc.

Skills & Qualifications

• A strong commitment to (and practical application of) cooperative care and fear-free animal handling.
• A compassionate and humane outlook on pet care practices.
• A general understanding of local Bylaws as it relates to pets in the Waterloo Region.
• Experience working with a variety of animals.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Ability to function under pressure and problem-solve quickly.
• Ability to work with very minimal supervision.
• Experience working with fearful, anxious, aggressive and reactive dogs is a strong asset.
• Pet First Aid certification is a strong asset.
• Experience with Mailchimp is an asset.
• Must be a minimum of 18 years old to comply with current insurance held by Arlo & Company.

Tools & Other Job Requirements

• Ability to travel to client homes throughout Waterloo Region.
• Cell phone with text, camera, email, web browsing, WhatsApp and Strava App capability (data plan preferred).
• Flexibility to provide personalized service to each client according to their outlined Pet Care Plan.
