Required
- Degree in Physiotherapy
- Registration in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
- Minimum of two years of clinical experience assessing and treating children and youth with a various long term physical/ neurological and developmental disabilities and/or demonstrated experience in working with children/youth with special needs through student clinical placement or other employment opportunities.
- Valid CPR Certification
- Ability to accept direction and work independently with minimal supervision
- Knowledgeable in the application of pediatric equipment including standers, walkers,
- Valid driver’s license/ motor vehicle and availability to travel to community visits and between sites
- Excellent productivity, organizational and communication skills.
- Previous proven good attendance record.
- Satisfactory job performance in present position.
- Availability to work extended hours to accommodate family/client requests.
- Proven ability to work as member of an interdisciplinary team.
As an active member of an Interdisciplinary team, duties include:
- To assess the suitability of the referred patient to benefit from physiotherapy.
- Complete physiotherapy assessments, treatment plans, discharge plans and consultations for children and youth with neurological and/or developmental disabilities including those with Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Muscular Dystrophy, Autism, Genetic disorders and undefined developmental delays/disabilities.
- Utilize a family centred, strength based, solution focused model of service delivery.
- Assess treat and develop program goals in collaboration with client, parents and other team members including physicians, schools and community partners
- Collaborate with other team members on program development.
- Complete prescriptions, set up and functional use of therapeutic equipment.
- Maintains appropriate client documentation and workload statistics according to legislation, college standards and ministry requirements.
- Keeps physicians and other team members informed of patients’ progress by way of written reports/face to face communication
- To take part in CTC interdisciplinary clinics, case conferences and staff meetings as assigned
- Stay up to date on clinical best practice specific to the role of physiotherapy
- Performs other duties as assigned from time to time.
