Processing Facilities Technician
Temp to Perm, Contract

Workforce Inc is sourcing for a Processing Facility Technician to support a client’s commercial line of business based in the Thunder Bay / Rosslyn, ON area. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing, sorting, and processing incoming/outgoing liquid and solid waste streams. The Processing Facility Tech is responsible for ensuring documentation associated with the waste received at, processed at, and transported from the site complies with the applicable provincial and federal regulations and legislation. The administrative duties include data entry and the generation of weekly and monthly waste inventories.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain up to date inventory of onsite waste
• Characterization of waste based on analysis
• Learn and Comply with all legislation regarding reg.347, TDG and WHMIS
• Sample containers of material
• Bulk and lab pack materials
• Knowledgeable in the operation of a Vac truck
• Operate forklift
• General housekeeping
• Load and unload trailers and box trucks
• Perform analysis and testing
• Basic understanding of potential chemical reactions (compatibility)
• Maintain up to date equipment inspections
• Perform all other duties as assigned
• Morning and afternoon rotational shift work required
• Operate propane forklift w/rotator
• Other tasks as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:

• Post-Secondary education in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering/Technology or experience in a related field is preferred
• Forklift certified
• Competent computer skills (MS Windows, Office, and Excel)
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Motivated, able to multi-task, and work effectively in a team environment
• Must be safety conscious and detail oriented
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to follow procedures and work with minimum supervision
• Willing to work overtime, alternate shifts, and occasional weekends

Experience:

• Forklift: 1 year (preferred)
• loading and unloading: 1 year (preferred)
• vac truck operation: 1 year (preferred)
• Chemistry/Chemical Engineering/Technology or related field: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

• Forklift Licence (preferred)
