Position - Production Workers - Yo-Yo Cookies® (NIGHT SHIFT)

About us: Number Five Food Inc specializes in the production of high-quality food products in beautiful Belfast, Prince Edward Island, perhaps known best for our excitingly tasty Yo-Yo Cookies®.

The Yo-Yo Cookie™ is an iconic shortbread cookies sandwich filled with real butter buttercream. Originally made in Australia by two German immigrants, the cookies began being sold by the pair commercially in the 1900's. In the years that followed the Yo-Yo Cookie became a favorite for home-bakers. For over 100 years the Yo-Yo Cookie® has become a stable treat in homes throughout Australia and New Zealand.

The Number Five Food Inc., founder started with a 50 year old recipe, making adjustments and tweaks over time to create their version of Yo-Yo Cookie® perfection - an all butter shortbread sandwich cookie filled with all butter buttercream.

The selection of decadent Yo-Yo Cookies®, made in the new facility located in Belfast, Prince Edward Island, can now be found in various retailers and grocers across PEI and Atlantic Canada.

Scope of the position:

We are growing our team of production workers to work out of our new facility in Belfast, Prince Edward Island.

Our team is absolutely dedicated to producing high quality products, ensuring our high standards are met by following our manufacturing processes and ensuring all food quality and safety standards are met. Our team is detail oriented and ensure a safe, clean working environment is maintained and all operating standards are always met. Our team is small; therefore, we all take an active role in every step in the production or our products, including baking, assembly, packaging, and shipping - ensuing our products meet our high standards of quality every step along the way. Our production team is committed to the success of the cookie, the facility and to their own growth. We rely on one another and take great pride in producing high quality products for our consumers to enjoy.

We will happily look as supporting PR for those that already have a valid Work Permit and are currently inside of Canada.

Shifts:

  • Our facility operates 24 hours a day - applicants must be willing and able to work 12 hour shifts.
  • Shift times are 6PM to 6AM - MON - WED 3 days on 4 days off, every week
  • This is a permanent position with opportunity for growth with a growing business

Must Haves:

  • Ability to follow all production and safety procedures
  • Ability to work with low supervision and achieve targets
  • Ability to safely operate machinery, including mixers, extruders, cutters and flow wrappers
  • Ability to read and accurately follow recipes and food production processing instruction
  • Ability to work long hours and standing for long periods of time - all shifts are scheduled for 12 hours
  • Ability to lift heavy items
  • Ability to maintain a clean working environment
  • Ability to accurately complete daily process documentation, including temp logs and batch recordings
  • Ability to work as a team
  • Hold a current food current food handlers certificate
  • Ability to work in Canada on a current Work Permit or currently have PR
  • Able to reliably travel to and from work - we are a rural business

Not required but a plus:

  • Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) experience
  • Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) process experience
  • Experience working in a food production – However, willing to train

Wages:

  • $17.00 - $19.50 hour
