PROGRAM MANAGER
40 hours/week
Chatham, Ontario
The Program Manager ensures the overall effectiveness of one or more Christian Horizons locations. They seek to promote and model Christian Horizons’ Service Principles by enhancing relationships, promoting citizenship, valuing people’s gifts, recognizing self-determination, encouraging growth and development, and recognizing the need for holistic supports in a manner that considers each person’s intrinsic value. The Program Manager helps build communities of belonging in accordance to the core Values of Christian Horizons; Valuing People, Fostering Belonging, Serving Others and Respecting Gifts. They respect and uphold the Values, Vision and Mission of Christian Horizons, demonstrating the highest standards of courtesy, respect and integrity in their dealings with persons supported, other employees and both internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Direct Services, which include:
- Providing coaching to employees regarding protocols, behavioural supports, medical requirements, training expectations and administration requirements, ensuring the quality of service.
- Providing emergency/crisis intervention (behaviour, medical, coaching/training), as needed.
- Rotational on-call duties for assigned Locations and response to emergencies and crisis.
- Establishing effective communication systems with families, advocates and agencies; specific to persons supported, to provide progress reports, and resolve issues and conflicts.
- Providing support that models and advances the Service Principles of Christian Horizons.
- Human Resources / Team Development, which includes:
- Ensure effective communication within teams and make resource materials available
- Post vacancies to Recruitment Manager(s), assist in interview process, and effectively hire new staff.
- Maintain complete and accurate Human Resources documentation and records. - Provide support to employees through one-on-one support meetings with team members and regular visits and presence within locations
- Provide feedback, evaluation and follow-up regarding performance, including the completion of Staff Development Plans.
- Respond to employment concerns including workplace conduct, conflict and harassment. - Manage attendance through Human Resources Information System, requests for leaves of absence and vacation request.
Program Administration, which includes:
- Developing annual budgets, submissions to Finance department, monitoring individual plans/journals/records, authorizing expenditures and reviewing cost centres
- Ensuring legal compliance through Ministry evaluations, ensuring Health & Safety & WHMIS requirements met
- Administration tasks
- Public/Christian Horizons relations through attending local community meetings, responding to concerns or complaints, maintaining communications with broader organizational teams
- District Operational Support
Requirements:
- 3-4 years experience in Developmental Services
- Developmental Services Worker Diploma preferred, three year related degree
- Supervisory/Management courses
- Organizational skills, strategic planning and computer skills required
- Emergency First Aid/CPR and valid full G drivers licence required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Conflict resolution and interpersonal skills required
- Documentation of COVID-19 vaccination
