About Us
We're a team focused, modern private practice offering unparalleled support to our therapists. We offer competitive salary, industry leading funding and support for training, free supervision, paid vacation, stat holidays, health benefits, flexible scheduling, and ongoing case support.
*Please note this is in person position*
You can find us at empirepsych.ca
The Basics
- You'll be joining a team of nine in full time group practice.
- This is a turn key position. 20-25 client hours per week, I provide office space, all clients, admin staff, training.
- You will have incredible support. An unlimited annual education and training budget (including flights and accommodation), weekly team meetings and case review.
- Work life balance and income stability. You are a salaried employee starting at $70,000-$110,000, you choose your schedule, you get CPP and EI, comprehensive extended health benefits, 3 weeks paid vacation each year (starting your first anniversary), stat holidays, and paid sick days.
Our Culture
- I value and support employees. Lots of companies say this but don't honour it. I genuinely care about both your well being and professional goals. Want to learn a new modality? Develop a retreat? Put out an online course? Work with specific issues in your practice? Need help with a difficult case? No problem!
- We learn and train together, hang out together, and grow the clinic together. First and foremost I'm looking for someone who fits with our team
Minimum Qualifications
- Registered Psychotherapist or RSW/MSW
- Master's in Counselling or equivalent degree
Ideal Candidate
Clinical Skills
- Experience with adults
- Experience with couples
- Advanced training in a couple's modality like EFT or Gottman
- Advanced training in an individual modality like CPT or REBT
- Familiarity with adult attachment a plus
Soft Skills
- Down to earth, warm, relatable, easy to talk to. If you're a super formal or reserved person with a really clinical vibe, it's probably not the right fit
- Other spoken languages a plus
- Strong interest in learning and continued professional development
- Interest in attachment
Examples of Training
Most therapists joining our team underestimate the training support provided, so for this posting I'm adding more details and some examples.
Examples of Recent Training Include:
-Stone, who spent 3 days in Boulder, Colorado to attend a ketamine experiential training as we prepare to add cutting edge psychedelic treatment options to our clinic
-I took the 4 day "Clinical Supervision for Supervising Psychotherapists" course remotely hosted from Ottawa by Dr. Augustine Meier
-All of us together are attended "Attachment, Neurodevelopment, and Pathology" over 10 days, hosted from Miami by Dr. Patricia Crittenden
-Divya and Miriam who both completed an 4 day EFT externship and 4 2-day EFT core skills trainings in 2022
-Faith, who is currently working on her EFT core skills level 4
-Miriam, who just completed an intensive 2 day DBT for high conflict couples course
-Ashley, who took an intensive 2 day CPT for trauma course just this week
Compensation
Especially in our industry, compensation is a bit taboo. Personally, I found it frustrating when employers wouldn't be up front about expectations in their ads. Money and benefits are important and it's important to me that everyone is well compensated and has a clear understanding about this with open, transparent conversation in this area.
I know everyone wants the highest salary listed in a job posting.
For clarity, $70,000 is for an RP or MSW/RSW with little to no couples experience, <5 years clinical experience, basically someone I need to invest $5,000 in EFT/attachment training right away and spend a lot of time with on development.
The average first year raise for someone starting at $70,000 is $10,000.
$110,000 is for an RP or MSW/RSW with 10+ years of clinical therapy experience, 5+ years working with couples or another population like kids/families/teens, and an existing background in attachment based work.
In terms of benefits like training, vacation, sick time, holidays, CPP that you won't have to pay as an employee vs a contractor etc. the value per year is around $10,000. You are also paid full salary from day 1, versus taking time and facing risk when building a per hour caseload as a contractor. This is helpful to know when considering the pros/cons of being a contractor paid per session or an employee.
To Apply
If this sounds good to you, I would love to hear from you. Please send me your resume and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Happy holidays, and thank you for your interest!
