Position: Receiving Inventory Clerk

POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are looking for a responsible and proactive Receiving Inventory Clerk toreceive, inspect and record incoming delivery of products. You will be responsible for unloading packages and checking their contents to ensure they match the orders. This position includes key administrative responsibilities relating to assisting the Purchaser in purchases, order tracking, purchase agreements, product records, and data entry. You must also have adequate physical strength to unload shipments as well as the clerical skills to update records and follow up with suppliers. The goal is to ensure we purchase, receive, and correctly input received products in our system.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Receiving and Inventory:

  • Receive shipments and sign paperwork upon receipt;
  • Unload packages from incoming trucks;
  • Inspect contents to ensure they are undamaged;
  • Verify packages according to order and invoices (quantity, quality, price etc.);
  • Assume responsibility for returning unsatisfactory shipments or receiving replacements;
  • Label deliveries and allocate them to their designated place;
  • Ensure invoices are signed and paid for satisfactory deliveries;
  • Maintain accurate records and assist in inventory control;
  • Processing returns for incorrect or unsatisfactory items;
  • Organizing and storing received items in appropriate areas;
  • Communicating with vendors regarding delays or problems;
  • Operate sit-down counterbalance forklift.

Administrative:

  • Maintaining records of purchase orders, delivery details, etc.;
  • Maintaining accurate inventory records by monitoring stock levels and identify purchasing needs;
  • Assist the Purchasers in evaluating offers from vendors and negotiate better prices Research potential vendors;
  • Track orders and ensure timely delivery;
  • Maintain updated records of invoices, contracts, purchase agreements, and product records;
  • Update computer program, Dynastar with order details (dates, vendors, quantities);
  • Follow up with suppliers, as needed, to confirm or change orders;
  • Comparing product deliveries with issued purchase orders to ensure there are no discrepancies;
  • Contact supplier or shipper if a mistake is identified;
  • Processing returns for incorrect or unsatisfactory items;
  • Communicating with vendors regarding delays or problems;
  • Other duties may be assigned as required.

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent;
  • Previous experience in a Sawmill or heavy industry preferred;
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a receiving clerk or similar position;
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience in operating a sit-down counterbalance
  • Computer skills and experience with data entry and inventory software programs - Dynastar program an asset;
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills;
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills;
  • Able to consistently represent the company in a professional manner;
  • Can work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively in a team.

ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds;
  • Must be able to tolerate bark and sawdust;
  • Extensive movement of arms and hands;
  • Ability to work in all types of weather conditions;
  • Ability to stand, and move around, climb stairs as needed;
  • Ability to bend, stoop, pull, and push.
