The incumbent will work with the Senior Manager, Recovery. They will use their expertise in recovery and/or program management to support operations across the country and ensure services are delivered in accordance with the CRC Fundamental Principles, Mission, and approved budgets. They will play a key role in coordinating CRC’s recovery work with external partners including governments, communities and organizations, and the private sector, as well as with internal services and supporting teams. The incumbent will lead the development of strategic and operational-level documents and tools, in addition to working alongside external partners to guide and support holistic recovery through activities such as recovery planning, navigation, and facilitation.

In this role, you will:

Recovery operations and programming

  • Support new and emerging recovery operations and programs, including managing key operational components related to the delivery of Red Cross recovery programs and service lines.
  • Serve in a variety of recovery roles for new recovery operations to build a common understanding of impact and needs, identify areas for engagement and/or advocacy, establish and foster relationships with other responding groups, and contribute to recovery planning and service delivery.
  • Collaborate with recovery service lines and other internal teams to ensure a holistic and comprehensive approach.
  • With Recovery Services leadership, collaborate with Emergency Management personnel to support the transition from relief to recovery focused work.

General recovery services

  • Support in the development of recovery services offerings and standards.
  • Develop strategic and operational-level frameworks, guides, resources, work plans, and other tools.
  • Collaborate across teams within the Red Cross and externally, leveraging experience, practices and lessons learned.
  • Contribute to planning and reporting as required.

What we are looking for:

  • University degree in a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience of relevant work experience in the emergency management, humanitarian, or community development sectors.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and French is required.
  • Experience in program management, project management, coordination, and/or stakeholder management.
  • Knowledge of a holistic approach to community resilience, emergency management practices, and risk reduction.
  • Demonstrated presentation, diplomacy, and navigation skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and professionalism in handling issues and confidential information.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a recovery context is an asset.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and diverse populations is an asset.

Working conditions:

  • The majority of the work will be performed in an environment which is mostly clean and comfortable.
  • The incumbent may be required to work extended hours during peak periods.
  • They must be available to travel to response/recovery operations as required.
  • Travel within Canada is required, travel internationally may be an option.
  • Able to work non-traditional hours and respond to after hour emergency/disaster related requests.
  • Potential for responding in hardship conditions, as well as difficult and unstable conditions (environmental, physical, social, etc.) and uncomfortable conditions (noise, odors, smoke, humidity, vulnerable beneficiaries).
  • If you are selected for this role, you will be required to complete a successful pre-employment screening process which includes a satisfactory Enhanced Police Information Check (E-PIC).
