Research Assistant (Waterloo, ONT)

(Short term project based professional services agreement); Book Project

Jennifer Moss is an author, journalist, strategist, and expert in the field of workplace well-being. She is the author of Unlocking Happiness at Work and The Burnout Epidemic, and is currently writing her third book on the subject.

Jennifer is looking for a research assistant to provide support in the research process. This project will run from mid/end of January through early June 2023.

Scope of Project:

The primary responsibility of the research assistant is to conduct research, data collection, analysis, and development of reports.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Maintaining quality controls standards to preserve the integrity of data and findings
  • Assist in the development of interview schedules; contact potential subjects to introduce and explain book objectives, and to arrange interviews, either by Zoom or by telephone
  • Obtain and organization release forms from interview subjects
  • Analyze data using various statistical methods
  • Write reports to summarize data and the implications of the results
  • Perform literature searches

Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in research, preferably related to the workplace well-being
  • Experience with data analysis
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to demonstrate a high level of tact and diplomacy when communicating with interview subjects
  • Attention to detail and accuracy (note taking)
  • Comfortable with MS office products, in particular Excel and PowerPoint
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours – evenings and weekend calls may be needed to reach interview subjects who are not available during business hours

Timeframe:

  • The work of the research assistant must be completed by June 8, 2023.

Qualifications

  • This position requires a Master’s degree in a related discipline
  • Candidates must have some experience in academic research

Benefits

  • Flexible schedule (up to 15 hours per week)

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months

Salary: $28.00 per hour
