S Operations Manager Job at Hood Packaging Corp

Under the responsibility of the General Manager, the person will ensure for the entire organization, the management and coordination of activities related to the two operations (Montreal and Cornwall). He/she takes responsibility for delivering our products according to our quality standards while ensuring a safe environment. It is asserted that the operating costs meet the standards and objectives of the general management and takes the necessary means to reduce operational costs without affecting the quality of the products. He/she manages and supervises an entire team (process engineer, supervisors, supply chain coordinator, product design coordinator).

More specifically:

  • Ensure the realization of the production plan.
  • Ensure the development and maintenance of operations management systems (instructions, work instructions, etc.) and keep them up to date.
  • Develop the operations budget for a division with multiple production plants
  • Ensure the quality standards of the organization and ensure that all product quality standards are met.
  • Ensure the management of construction/expansion projects and installation of equipment such as: addition of new equipment, optimization of the used space, construction of new infrastructures, knowledge of major project management.
  • Apply and maintain the Occupational Health and Safety Program.
  • Ensure that health and safety policies and instructions are strictly followed.
  • Ensure that OHS gaps are well identified, communicated and follow-ups are completed within an acceptable timeline and management standards.
  • Ensure the development of the management system for the training of supervisory staff so that the instructions are well understood and executed by the workers.
  • Manage employees: setting annual targets, performance evaluations, corrective measures, disciplinary measures, grievance settlement, collective agreement negotiations, etc.
  • Supervise management staff so that they constantly improve their management styles and thus improve the atmosphere in the plant.
  • Resolve personnel management difficulties (conflicts, motivation, discipline).

Education:

  • University degree in business administration, engineering or any other related field.

Experiences:

  • Minimum of 10 years in similar functions in manufacturing in the flexible packaging or liquid packaging industry.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Rigor in management

  • Bilingual (English and French) both orally and in writing
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Organized to meet deadlines and able to work under pressure
  • Ability to influence an organization
  • Creative in finding solutions
  • Knowledge of work organization techniques such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, etc.
