Position Description:

The Senior Financial Analyst, Private Equity will report to the Senior Manager of Finance, and work closely with the Private Equity investment team. The individual will be required to develop a deep understanding of the Private Equity fund structures and be responsible for reporting, tax, internal controls and compliance, treasury, as well as financial and operating analysis. This role offers the opportunity to develop a solid understanding of key drivers and performance metrics of the fund and portfolio investments.

Key Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare financial statements, fund reports, and investor notices for the respective funds
  • Prepare trial balances, custodian reports, debt compliance documents for the respective funds
  • Prepare presentation materials for investor meetings, trustee meetings, internal presentations
  • Responsible for tax filing, compliance, and analysis
  • Responsible for developing a working knowledge of the various fund documents including Limited Partnership Agreements, credit agreements, management agreement
  • Responsible for timely updates to the Private Equity finance team on progress of Funds and identification of any issues
  • Supporting the annual financial audit and ensuring retention of appropriate audit documentation
  • Continuous development and streamlining of processes and procedures
  • Assist with valuation, due diligence, fundraising, and investor requests as required
  • Assist with cash flow planning and identify opportunities to maximize investor returns
  • Ad-hoc analysis on financial and operational results, as well as special projects as required

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications and Skill set:

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, or other relevant technical discipline
  • CPA designated, with 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with working in the private equity space is an asset
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PPT, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of statement of earnings, balance sheet, cash flows
  • Keen sense of how financial statements and note disclosures need to be presented and reviewed
  • Genuinely curious with a desire to understand key metrics and drivers
  • High attention to detail
  • Understanding of accounting principles, ASPE, GAAP, etc.
  • Exceptional quality standards and an ongoing desire to push for new approaches, insights, and presentation methods
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to handle competing deliverables, with accurate/timely delivery under tight timelines

Location & Travel:

The position will be based out of our Oakville office. Fengate offers a Work-Flex policy where employees are allowed to work remotely up to 3 days per week. The successful candidate will start as soon as possible.
