Senior IT Systems Administrator

Type: Permanent, Full-time
Hybrid mode: 3 days in the office and 2 days remotely

THE ROLE
Reporting to the Senior Infrastructure Manager, within the Information Technology team, we are looking for a self-motivated, ambitious, experienced IT Systems Administrator with strong team and leadership skills, while also bringing a senior level of technical expertise to the table. You will be committed to finding solutions to problems from a global perspective and will work with different teams and disciplines to get things done. This is a bilingual position (French/English) and fluency in both languages is required.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Here are just a few ways that you’ll help make journeys better:
- Work closely with the Manager of On-Premise Data Centers to ensure the organizations standards and best practices are followed;
- Advanced administration and troubleshooting with Azure Cloud
- Administration, installation and advanced troubleshooting of Nutanix products and hyper-converged infrastructure;
- Design and implement architectures for creating and provisioning a dynamic on-premise architecture consisting of virtualized resources that support multi-tiered HA/Clustered applications, services, databases, and capabilities using various hypervisors, platforms, and operating systems;
- Design and implement virtualized servers, clients, tools, and infrastructure, and create a management plan to guide operations and activities associated to the deployed environments and resources;
- Plan and manage assigned activities with a focus on quality, timeliness and budget;
- Analyze and resolve incidents in a timely manner to minimize downtime to all clients;
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups;
- Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. according to project / operational standards and requirements;
- Provide Tier III/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues;
- Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies;
- Investigate and recommend innovative and, where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale;
- Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures;
- Maintain operational, configuration and other procedures;
- Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning;
- Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades and resource optimisation as required.
- Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required;
- Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
We want you to join our team! Here’s what we’re looking for:
- 5 to 7 years experience in systems administration;
- DEC in computer technology or other relevant field
- Experience with public, private, and/or hybrid cloud capabilities
- Working knowledge of on-premise and colocation system administration, virtualization and cloud platforms, services, architectures/ designs, and best practices;
- Minimum 5 years experience with the following technologies (if applicable);
- - Cloud Computing Technologies (Azure, ADFS, AWS management);
- - Hypervisor/hyperconverged infrastructure (AHV, Nutanix)
- - Windows Server 2008 - 2019 ;
- - Citrix XenApp 7.x and above
- - GNU / Linux Redhat 5.5 - 7.x ;
- - Vmware Vsphere 6.0 - 6.5 using technologies such as Datastore clustering, DRS and DVswitch in a multi-host / multi-cluster environment;
- - Microsoft Active Directory under domain / forest level 2012 and above;
- - Veeam Backup and Replication ;
- - IBM Storewize and HP EVA storage systems;
- - Microsoft Powershell 4.0 and up;
- - Symantec Endpoint Protection ;
- - Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2012;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Will be required to support the infrastructure in a 24/7 on-call rotation with other team members;
- Ability to work well independently and in a collaborative global team environment;
- Strong prioritization, analytical and organizational skills;
- Ability to work in a fast priority changing environment;
- Excellent written/oral communication, both French and English;
- Experience in a Retail environment is an asset but not required;
- All duties performed as assigned relating to position.
