About the Role
The key objectives for the Senior Logistics Manager are to provide “best-in-class” transportation of meat proteins from company-controlled and third-party suppliers. The Logistics Manager will use his or her exceptional skills and methods to improve the efficiency of company operations in the pursuit of corporate objectives.
Accountabilities and Detailed Activity:
Vendor Relations & Growth
- Build and maintain solid relationships with internal and external customers.
- Management of the relationship with the shippers for Brampton and Hamilton Facilities ensuring on-time delivery and shipping coordination.
- Negotiate with and manage contracts and service level agreements for third-party suppliers and/or service providers.
Logistics Operations & Management
- Coordinate transportation of meat proteins
- Management of transportation of meat proteins within borders (Canada Mexico & U.S.) and across borders (Canada/U.S. and internationally) via trucks as well as storage containers (imports only).
- Develop and direct logistic processes and establish ongoing improvement plans for freight management, vendor routing, and carrier management.
- Comply with the requirements of both internal & external customers and government legislation.
- Management of GTA Freight.
- Deal with imports and exports shipped to and from the company; work with customs officials to ensure compliance with CFIA, USDA, and others.
Profit Maximization
- Minimize Logistics Expenses: trucking, order, and lab charges.
- Monitor financial performance to ensure Key Performance Indicators are met and that adequate profit margins are maintained.
Logistics Team Performance
- Maximize performance and efficiency, responsible for ensuring the logistic team meets and exceeds performance indicators, KPIs, and targets.
- Ensure team compliance with Sierra Corporate policies and procedures.
- Lead & develop a support team, through example and training.
Logistics Routes Optimization
- Ensure Trucks movement efficiency and reduction of idle time for all trucks.
Logistics Strategy
- Lead weekly Logistics meetings to discuss current or outstanding issues and develop strategies
for resolving them.
What we are looking for:
Education and/or Professional Designation:
University degree in business, with a focus on supply chain management, particularly the transport function, or equivalent working experience
Experience:
- 5-7 years of direct work experience in a supply chain management or manufacturing environment with proven leadership abilities.
- Should carry specialist knowledge as a document expert for all regulatory and cross border matters
- Experience in importing / Clearing ocean shipping containers
Language Skills:
- Fluency in English.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
Travel Requirement :
Ability to travel across locations within GTA.
