We are seeking a customer-focused, enthusiastic individual with a high degree of professionalism to join our team as a Senior Property Accountant. We are an established private company that manages a large portfolio of retail, office and industrial properties in Canada and the United States.
The Senior Property Accountant is responsible for full-cycle accounting and ensuring timely, complete and accurate financial reporting of a designated property portfolio and other corporate entities. In addition, this role will be responsible for providing coaching, mentorship and guidance to Property Accountants.
Job duties:
- Prepare month end reporting and reconciliations on accounts, GST, bank accounts, budgets, etc.
- Process, review, code and record receivables and payables including contracts and other multi property payments and allocate to properties
- Perform monthly analyses of account information
- Prepare budget information for comparison and analysis purposes and provide to management for approval
- Prepare and file government remittances
- Prepare revenue projections and budget forecasts
- Perform account reconciliations, journal entries and bank reconciliations
- Perform and review monthly bank reconciliations, GST reconciliations and filings
- Review and record financial information and provide monthly allocations
- Ensure thorough understanding of lease agreements in designated portfolio
- Assist Property Managers in reconciling tenants’ accounts as well as following up on any outstanding accounts
- Provide information to and liaise with Property Managers regarding other financial matters related to their account
- Provide assistance,support and mentorship to the finance team
- Liaise with other departments on accounting related matters, provide counsel and respond to queries
- Assist Accounting Manager and Controller with other accounting/financial projects as required
- Other duties as assigned
About you:
- Diploma or degree in Accounting/Finance or related field
- Minimum 5 years of full-cycle accounting experience within Commercial Real Estate and/or Property Management
- Prior experience with Yardi software preferred
- Proficient in MS Office with advanced skills in Excel
- Solid understanding of real estate industry
- An understanding of lease terms is an asset
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Well organized and able to effectively juggle multiple priorities

Salary: $70,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
