HaiLa is building ultra low power radio communications solutions that will eliminate the need for batteries in wireless communication devices by offering a product that is hyper power efficient that can run indefinitely from harvested energy. Our missionis to enable Ambient Power IoT with sensing everywhere on existing protocols like Wi-fi.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced Software Engineer to join our dynamic and diverse team! You will work directly with the System Design team to specify and design application software and device drivers.

Based in Montreal, HaiLa is supported by leading sustainability-focused venture investors as well as Stanford University.HaiLa is a Canadian fabless semiconductor and software startup headquartered in Montreal, Quebec.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Implement new features or improve UI/UX on existing products.
• Troubleshoot, test, and maintain code and ensure it is optimized, performs well, and is of high quality.
• Maintain and regularly update software documentation inside the code and in confluence.
• Drive code reviews and maintain Jira based issue-tracking system
• Apply systematic debug strategies to solve issues
• Work together with the hardware team to ensure hardware-software interoperability
• Contribute to system architecture

Key requirements:

• Experience with Linux user space application programming
• Strong experience in Python
• Good knowledge of CI/CD
• Experience with scripting languages (Bash, PERL, TCL etc.)
• C/C++, Javascript
• Docker

Some basic qualifications

• 2-5 years of back-end experience in software development
• 1 year of front-end experience in software development
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering with an understanding of Embedded Systems or similar area with a software focus
• Experience with networking, especially WLAN, is a plus
