Your Role

We are looking for a technically skilled, and creative Structural Steel Detailer / Engineer to join our Design & Engineering Dept.

You will be working closely with architects, engineers, plant and project managers to design structural steel modules. You will be primarily responsible for the delivery of working and shop drawings ensuring accurate coordination with the architectural and MEP packages issued by multi-disciplinary teams of external and internal consultants. Other responsibilities include participating in R&D, working on advanced structural solutions and custom details to improve overall efficiency of BECC’s modular systems.

To be successful in this role, you should demonstrate exceptional technical skills using computer-aided drawing, modelling, and project management tools, such as Autodesk Advance Steel, Revit, AutoCAD, etc. The ideal candidate will have an excellent eye for detail, deep understanding of different building systems, and superb collaboration skills.

Your Responsibilities

  • Gather, organize, analyze information from the external consultants required to complete design scope of works.
  • Produce manufacturing documentation for steel structural systems for modules, including modeling, drawings, cut sheets.
  • Coordinate with structural consultants for incorporating the design intent into the manufacturing documentation
  • Revise model, drawings, details, specs, BOM as per external consultants or design and manufacturing teams comments
  • Issue, reply and track RFI; create reports and track work performance as required.
  • Ensure timely release of deliverables such as working drawings, schedules, details as per established timelines.
  • Review final drawings to safeguard compliance with the industry standards and engineering requirements.
  • Conduct site visits to RFP or RFI project sites with the Sales or Construction Team, when required.
  • Develop full understanding of BECC design standards and principles to provide quick feedback to the Plant Team
  • Work with the construction team to optimize the manufacturing documentation process for utmost plant efficiency
  • Conduct research and attend workshops to remain up to date with the latest design and construction trends.

Your Qualifications

  • Certificate/Diploma in Engineering Technology.
  • 3 - 6 years of professional experience in the AEC industry.
  • Knowledge in design of structural steel systems is required.
  • Knowledge in steel fabrication process and welding code is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in using Autodesk Advance Steel, Revit, AutoCAD is required.
  • Proficiency in using Solidworks, Bluebeam, Tekla and other professional software will be beneficial.
  • Deep understanding of building science and building systems integration.
  • Exceptional technical and math skills. Time management skills.
  • Collaborative, team-conscious and responsible individual.
  • Ability to legally work in Canada, work permit, visa or PR already obtained.
