QCL is a luxury fishing resort set in a protected harbor at the northern end of Haida Gwaii. As the M.V. Driftwood SVMO you will travel from Vancouver to Haida Gwaii, mid-May with meals, uniforms and on-board accommodations provided.

SVMO (SMALL VESSEL MACHINERY OPERATOR)

Professional individual to fill the position of SVMO relating to the ship’s mechanical operations with repairs and maintenance skill sets for a motor vessel, with the ability to multi task as duties are assigned on a day-to-day basis.

Role Responsibilities:

• Main Engine Maintenance and Repairs and Run Up
• Lubrication of Main Engine for over 250 oiling points
• Engine Room Maintenance
• Generator Maintenance of two (2) 40 kW diesel Isuzu Generators
• John Deere Hydraulic Engine and Gardner PTO
• Gardner Air Compressor for Main Engine Starting
• Aqua Marine Reverse Osmosis/Desalination Water System
• General Repairs and Maintenance
• Ship Oily Water Separation Unit
• Maintenance of working systems of Ship general and Operation repairs
• Participate with full understanding in all Ships Fire and Life Safety Drills and Programs

Role Requirements & Details:

An applicant for a Small Vessel Machinery Operator position must have the following accreditations or have experience required to be certified as an Unrestricted SVMO.

Current Transport Canada Unrestricted or Restricted SVMO Certificate to act as Engineer on a Motor Vessel with the following limitations:

Passenger Vessel:

• Less than 1,500 kW – Sheltered Waters and Near Coastal Class 2, less than 6 hours duration
• Less than 750 kW – Sheltered Waters and Limited Near Coastal Class 2

The Company is willing to certify a qualified applicant at their cost to obtain a Restricted SVMO Certificate on the MV Driftwood subject to the following conditions:

• Acquire or have at least two months of qualifying service as an Engineer or a Rating performing engine-room duties on one or more motor vessels
• Provide the following certificates: MED with Respect to Small Passenger Vessel Safety (MED A2) Training Certificate & Marine Basic First Aid
• Pass the following examinations: Written examination on General Engineering Knowledge of Small Vessels, after meeting the requirements noted
• Passing the examination relating to: Oral examination on General Engineering Knowledge of Small Vessels, if considering an Unrestricted Certificate
