Our continued growth, as Algonquin Adventure Tours enters its 27th season, requires additional outdoor education and canoeing tour specialists, who desire a career position (4.5 month annual season) with an industry leader. Founded in 1996, Algonquin Adventure Tours specializes in providing guided Algonquin Provincial Park educational adventures to travelers from around the world.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge, and the drive to keep learning, about the history, flora and fauna of Algonquin Park.
  • Advanced canoe & wilderness survival skills (solo paddle/portage 15+km/3+km)
  • Paddling/tripping certifications and related college/university are a huge plus
  • Employ the highest covid and personal safety standards at all times
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Adaptable, flexible, reliable and proactive work habits
  • Strong work ethic (hard work in possibly extreme weather, with many insects, is not for all)
  • Friendly and outgoing - must be effective at educating & entertaining clients from different backgrounds.
  • Ability to lift/carry 75+ pounds and portage/flip boats like a master.
  • Outdoors card, fishing permit, pleasure craft operators card, food handler certification, WAFA/WFR, ORCKA Basic Canoe Instructor (prefered) - obtain before May 23
  • Good paddling & camping gear/clothing for 3 seasons; steel toe boots/shoes are required for property maintenance work.
  • Must enjoy living in a rural setting
  • NLS, military, additional languages and campfire music skills are a plus
  • Non tobacco smoker (smoke free work place and residence)
  • Take covid-19 safety seriously

Duties:

  • Protect AAT gear from abuse/accident
  • Guide day and multiday wilderness trips
  • Provide safe, educational and fun experiences
  • Maintain the highest safety standards at all times
  • Set up, take down, clean, pack and maintain all equipment
  • Food preparation, service and cleaning
  • Represent Algonquin Adventure Tours in a professional manner at all times (i.e. appearance, customer service)
  • Other duties (gear, property & vehicle maintenance) as assigned
  • Driving company vans with canoe trailers

Work Schedule: May 23 - October 9, 2023; Student reduced season - May 23 - September 3, 2023; full time.

Total full season earning: $18,000-$22,000 for first year guides

Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 3-5 months

Salary: $190.00-$240.00 per day
