SECONDARY CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY TEACHER
Permanent – Full-Time
at St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School

The Sudbury Catholic District School Board, a community recognized for innovation and a great northern lifestyle is centrally located in Northeastern Ontario, and is composed of a rich mix of urban, suburban, rural and wilderness environments.
This teaching position is available effective immediately. The successful incumbent will become a permanent employee with Sudbury Catholic Schools and a member of the OECTA secondary bargaining unit.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Current member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
Basic Qualifications in Technological Studies – Construction Technology, Grades 9 and 10/Grades 11 and 12
Knowledge of current Ministry initiatives
Excellent English language communication skills, both oral and written
Sound knowledge of evidence-based assessment practices
A commitment to supporting the use of technology, differentiated instruction, and to promoting an environment of innovation and creativity that engages the 21st century learner
An ability to implement a shared vision consistent with the principles of Catholic Education and integrating the Catholic School Graduate Expectations within the curriculum
Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with students, staff, and parents
Flexibility to be assigned in other subject/grades as the need arises
A willingness to participate in the Board’s ongoing literacy and numeracy initiatives
Proven ability to implement effective classroom management strategies
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Working knowledge of the IPRC process and the IEP, as they relate to planning and programming
Religious Education Part 1 (or commitment to obtain within first 24 months of employ – a subsidy is provided)
Priest Reference Form and Faith Reference Portfolio (see Catholic Teacher Application
Ability to provide regular attendance
Priority will be given to teachers who currently have the required qualifications. Candidates with experience and a solid background in construction working toward their certification may be considered.
