About the role
We are seeking a Communications Specialist to provide professional strategic communications counsel and best practice guidance to team members and senior leaders across ANBL and Cannabis NB. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Communications, the Communications Specialist will work in a very fast-paced environment supporting two distinct companies, in two dynamic industries to ensure the organizations’ messaging are shared in a consistent way with internal and external audiences.
What you’ll be doing
You are an expert writer, editor, and communicator, and will oversee communication activities inside and outside the organization. As a key member of the Communications team, you will be developing internal and external communication activities including risk mitigating communication strategies. You will design communications plans, write key messages, and liaise with media, including speaking on behalf of the company and coordinating media events. You are comfortable in ambiguous situations, address issues proactively, and bring a strategic approach to problem solving.
Additional responsibilities include
- Responding to media requests and inquiries in writing, phone, or in person.
- Monitoring industry news and flagging key information, inaccuracies, and content.
- Developing strategies and content for intranet and other internal communication tools.
- Working closely with internal stakeholders to provide communication counsel on high-priority internal and external messaging.
- Participate in strategic planning and brand strategy as part of the overall Marketing & Communications team which includes Communications, Marketing & Corporate Social Responsibility.
What do you need to be successful?
- Post-secondary education degree in communications, journalism, public relations or other relevant field.
- 3 - 7 years of progressive communications experience.
- Fluently bilingual, written and spoken in English and French (advanced level required).
- Highly self-motivated, flexible, adaptable mindset and capable of successfully engaging in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Application information
- Candidates must submit two (2) samples of work (one in English and one in French) with their application.
- Samples should ideally be between 250 and 500 words, and can include press releases, blog posts, newsletters, speaking notes, etc.
Location
- The Retail Operations Centre located in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
- The successful candidate must be based in New Brunswick, remote work is possible.
- Semi-regular travel for meetings and project work will be required.
