Job Summary

Join a dynamic team of forestry management professionals in Port McNeill

The Ministry of Forests is responsible for stewardship of the province’s Crown land and natural resources. Overseeing a land base of 94.8 million hectares, the ministry makes, supports and advises on stewardship decisions for BC’s land and resources, and delivers services to provide environmental, economic, cultural, and social benefits for all British Columbians.

As a member of the District Stewardship team, the Stewardship Forester provides professional advisory services over a broad program, including resource monitoring, silviculture, forest management planning, timber supply analysis, land- based investment delivery, and forest health.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a natural resource management related field, or equivalent education and experience as recognized by the Association of BC Forest Professionals.
  • Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) with the Association of BC Forest Professionals (ABCFP). Note: immediately eligible for registration is defined as being able to immediately transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction to the ABCFP. Confirmation of registration/eligibility will be required before an offer of employment can be confirmed.
  • Recent (within last 5 years) experience working in natural resource management.
  • Recent (within last 5 years) experience in partner engagement, negotiation and/or conflict resolution related to natural resource management.

Willingness Statements

  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent.
  • Willingness, and ability, to conduct field work which may include travel to remote areas by vehicle, boat, air or foot, overnight or extended stay in rough camp conditions, outdoor work in all weather conditions.
