Departmental Overview
The Corporate Operation Division encompasses various departments, including Equipment Maintenance Operations, Information Technology & Systems, and Corporate ServicesHuman Resources and Field Recruitment. The Information Systems (IS) team is responsible for Morgan's IT infrastructure and the maintenance and development of various Information Systems (IS) that are critical to Morgan's operation. This includes defining, developing, and implementing IT policies, procedures and best practices that provide cost-effectively and secure IT systems and operations.
Position Function
The role of the Manager of Enterprise Applications role is to plan, design, develop, and launch efficient business, financial, and operations systems supporting core organizational functions and business processes. This includes gathering and analyzing data supporting business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements. The MEA is also responsible for generating and compiling reports based on the findings, with probable causes and possible solutions to systems issues. This individual will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit of IS investments.
Working Relationships
The Manager of Enterprise Applications (MEA) reports directly to and works closely with the Director of Information Technology and Systems to deliver software solutions and develop internal relationships with various stakeholders (Operations, Finance, Corporate Services, etc.) at Morgan. Leading a project, multitasking, and communicating clearly will be vital to working within the Morgan team. With superior interpersonal skills, the MEA will effectively and professionally deliver relevant information in presentations to inform decision-makers of the recommendation.
Responsibilities
The following is a high-level description of the responsibilities of the MEA and is not meant to be all-inclusive:
Strategy & Planning
- Meet with decision-makers, systems owners, and end-users to define business, financial, and operations requirements and systems goals, and identify and resolve systems issues.
- Lead design sessions in prototyping new systems to enhance business processes, operations, and information process flow.
- Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
- Identify and establish the scope and parameters of systems analysis to define outcome criteria and measure-taking actions.
- Collaborate in the planning, designing, developing, and deploying new applications and enhancements to existing ones.
- Research software products to justify recommendations and support purchasing efforts.
- Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in various systems across the organization.
- Create system design proposals and perform cost-benefit and return-on-investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in implementing decisions.
- Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems and other post-implementation support.
- Provide orientation and training to end-users for all modified and new systems.
- Provide guidance and instruction to the internal IT&S members and vendors.
- Assess system performance, receive stakeholder feedback, and recommend improvements.
- Work closely with our internal business and vendors to develop and prioritize application/product roadmaps to align with current and emerging business needs.
- Deliver a high-quality digital user experience by applying a user-centric approach to application design/configuration and support.
- Work closely with partner vendors to fix identified issues and implement new features/upgrades promptly and successfully.
- Manage relationships and contracts with vendors
- Resolve issues escalated by colleagues
- Ensure timely support and consistent communication during any downtimes
- Assist in the forecast and control of costs and budgets regarding Enterprise Applications
- Help develop IT policies and practices relating to the proper use of Enterprise Applications.

Acquisition & Deployment
- Design and development of database objects, tables, stored procedures, views, triggers, SSRS and SSIS packages.
- Translation of business requirements into ETL and report specifications.
- Develop and implement ETL processes, reports, and queries to support business analytics.
- Design and development of enterprise business intelligence, data warehousing and reporting solutions.
- Working with business users to establish reporting and analytic requirements.
- Understanding key performance indicators that drive company measurement, reporting and analytics across key data sources and functions.
Operational Management
Existing Judgment/Impacts of Decisions/Consequence of Error
The Business System Analyst is responsible for developing, recommending, implementing, and ongoing support of Morgan's Applications & System solutions. They must clearly articulate requirements and recommendations (in both business & technical terms) for these systems, including reporting system enhancements and customized applications. They would typically solve problems using their judgement, experience, and expertise, including:
- Proven experience overseeing software solutions, systems, product design, development, and implementation.
- Extensive practical knowledge in importing data in report software, graphs, and flow charts.
- Extensive experience with core software applications, including ERP (Explorer Contract Manager Eclipse). Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Access, and Excel (Advanced)
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Excellent understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
An error in work would seriously affect the daily business decision-making systems used daily and for new business opportunities. Errors in work would be discovered through oversight by the Director of Information Technology and Systems.
Requirements
Qualifications
Given the critical role this individual will be expected to play in delivering on Morgan's mission, the successful candidate must possess the following core competencies, experience, and attributes:
- Experience with basic accounting and financial reporting, including but not limited to General accounting principles, Balance Sheet and Operating Statement principles, and General Ledger/Sub-Ledger associations.
- Experience with core business processes including but not limited to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and the reconciliation of General Ledger/Sub-Ledger administration.
- Five years of IS-related experience in Microsoft PowerBI, PowerApps, SQL Development, and system integration.
- Experience with the Explorer Contract Manager.
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline or experience/education.
- Proficient in database management & integration technologies.
- Skill in promptly detecting, analyzing, and resolving computer software and network problems, sometimes with little time or data.
- Ability to provide helpful advice or facilitate discussion with client departments regarding future needs or changes.
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills, including excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Must demonstrate active listening and strong facilitation.
- Must possess strong organizational and analytical skills and attention to detail.

Other Assets
Hours of Work
Typical work hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, excluding Statutory Holidays. Work outside these hours may be required from time to time and will be discussed and agreed upon by both parties on an as-needed, per-incident basis. Some travel to Morgan's international offices and facilities may be required.
