Position Overview

The Optical Office Administrator/Pre-Tester plays a key role in ensuring all SGVC customers have a positive experience from an initial phone/walk-in inquiry to each subsequent visit to the SGVC clinic. This individual will serve as the first point of contact for our customers, and provide exceptional customer service to all. The Optical Office Administrator/Pre-Tester will also help clinic Optometrists in preparing patients for their appointments.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, service-orientation, strong communication skills and workplace agility. SGVC is looking to hire someone with the desire to grow in the Optical field, and will offer professional development opportunities for the right candidate.

While this role is primarily based on our Spruce Grove location (216 Main Street Spruce Grove, AB), we do require the successful candidate is able to work at our St. Albert location (1115 St. Albert Trail, St. Albert, AB) as well.

Responsibilities

Office Administration

  • Welcoming patients to the clinic
  • Scheduling and confirming appointments in person, by phone and by email
  • Work as a team player to ensure each patient receives the best service possible
  • Perform tasks including confirming coverage, receiving payment, and general administrative tasks
  • Answering and appropriately directing phone calls and emails
  • Verifying Saskatchewan Health Care eligibility for select appointment types
  • Completing monthly recalls to patients who are due for their annual or bi-annual eye exams
  • Other duties as assigned

Optical Pre-Testing

  • Perform prescribed pre-tests and imaging to patient
  • Administers drops in patients’ eyes as prescribed
  • Perform visual field testing
  • Perform additional testing prescribed by ODs (i.e.: O.C.T.)
  • Data entry of testing and imaging results as necessary

Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Post-Secondary considered an asset
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a customer service role
  • Previous experience in a similar role and/or industry strongly preferred
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • High attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of G-Suite and Microsoft Suite

Employment Status: Full-time Permanent

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, with alternating Saturday shifts
