Physician Assistant / Clinical Assistant Job at Northern Health Region
Provides a range of patient-centered health care services to individuals, families and communities at all life stages.
Practices within a formalized collaborative structure with physician oversight and regulation. Collaborates with
patients, families and an inter-professional team of health professionals. Provides a broad spectrum of health
promotion, chronic disease management, disease prevention, education, counseling treatment and supportive care in
collaboration with the supervising physician. Maintains competencies based on in-depth knowledge and skills in clinical
practice and holds the expertise required to conduct comprehensive health assessments and implements appropriate
care interventions. Aligns his/her practice with evidence-based strategies that maintain the highest level of quality and
continuity for the patient. Strives to improve the health status of the residents of the Northern Health Region (NHR)
working from an advanced understanding and knowledge of health issues experienced by residents of NHR. Develops and
implements health plans for a client-centered strength/holistic approach.
The incumbent must fulfill the requirements of the Criminal Records/Vulnerable Person, Child Abuse Registry check and
Adult Abuse Registry check, and adhere to all Northern Health Region policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in medicine from a faculty of medicine acceptable to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba
- Current active practicing registration as a Clinical Assistant or Physician Assistant with CPSM
- Current certification from a recognized Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS), or obtain within three (3)
- Valid Manitoba Class V driver’s license, access to a vehicle, and willingness to travel the region year round
- Thorough knowledge of Windows based programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and Internet
