Furniture Repair Technician Career Opportunity
Ashley HomeStore is currently seeking a Furniture Repair Technician for our EDMONTON distribution centre located at 11343 - 189 STREET NW.
As a Furniture Repair Technician, you will be responsible for repairing and refinishing furniture at the distribution centre and/or in our guests' homes.

As a Furniture Repair Technician, you will:
Inspect of all assembled products in the run lane for delivery and assess if products can be repaired or must be replaced.
Restore product to like-new conditions using proven techniques, including refinishing, re-upholstery, painting, etc.
Repair damaged stock, wood, fabric, leather, and metal furniture using approved methods.
Understand and follow all safe work practices and rules, including WHMIS.
Answer guests' questions during in-home repairs.
Document and complete service reports and paperwork, including inventory control information.
Support Quality Control Coordinator in the completion of Product Issue Tracking (PIT.)
Communicate any issues (mechanical or otherwise) on the service vehicles.
Attend training on furniture repair topics.
Inspect and validate the repair parts.
As a successful candidate you will have the following:
High School diploma with 2+ years of practical work experience in furniture repair, including upholstery, leather repairs, and wood refinishing.
Previous warehouse experience.
Good computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn in-house computer programs.
Ability to learn in-house inventory management system.
Good verbal communication skills.
Some exposure to solvents.
Good physical condition with stamina to lift at least 50 – 100 pounds.
Valid Class 5 Driver's license with clean driver's abstract.
Able to conduct physical work in warm and cold conditions.
Operates various equipment (dock levellers, hand trucks, cardboard baler and reach truck, etc.)
Flexible schedule requirements, including evenings and weekends.
Available to work overtime as required.
Criminal Record Check is required.
