Product Sourcing Manager – LED Backlighting Systems

Reports to: Director of Design and Merchandising

This Role:

Reporting into the Director of Product Development, the Product Sourcing Manager has ownership and accountability for the Omnify Product line including product category development. Their main focus will be to design and develop exciting and innovative lighting products and accessories that make our customers say wow! We are seeking a creative, results-oriented individual who manages priorities to support product category growth and sales performance measures.

Position Accountabilities:

Research and Development:

· Collaborate with Director of Design and Merchandising and Sales to understand concept and vision to determine functional and aesthetic details for all products.

· Lead and organize bi-annual global sourcing trip

· Vendor Selection and Management (Price Negotiation, Negotiating terms)

· Development of Pricing Models, targets and margin control of inline products.

· Custom Quoting- Special Projects including margin management, Liaise with Engineering in support of custom orders.

· Study LED & sustainability trends and input proposals each quarter.

· Lead and maintain a styling library for inline and custom product.

· Build and maintain power, accessory, & mounting library for all products.

· Participate in trade shows and check retail / market ideas.

Planning:

· Prepare detailed technical packages for customer with all relevant information including drawings for both inline and custom orders.

· Custom Pricing for Technical BTO products and custom projects

· Prepare Sales forecast for new product initial investments

Management of Product Specifications:

· Fully responsible for all aspects of the complete lighting and power specifications.

· Prepare detailed technical packages for customer with all relevant information including drawings for both inline and custom orders.

· Prepare technical packages that are easily understood and clear for vendors, including sample delivery, quality assurance, approval and follow up.

· Liaise closely with product engineering for lab and UL approval.

· Coordinate signoff from engineering on all technical packages.

· Maintain accurate system information within our ERP.

· Ensure final manufacturing technical packages, SOPs and BOMs are accurately updated and filed before production starts.

Uniformity and Product Quality Approval:

· Liaise with UL Specialist/Engineering to determine initial proposal for each product using UL direction and consistency while maintaining reference to standard measurements, heat sinking and quality standards.

· Participate in testing sessions to check all UL and engineering requirements.

· Liaise closely with Engineering for required lab approvals

· Ensure Engineering check and approve prototypes and initial samples with urgency.

Skills & Qualifications:

· Minimum 3 years' experience in Technical Design or LED Product Sourcing/Development

· Degree/Diploma in Electrical / Engineering Design or related area.

· A passion for creativity and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

· Strong product positioning and trend research.

· Strong verbal, written and, presentation skills, in both English and Mandarin.

· High level of self-motivation and creative problem-solving abilities

· Must have strong analytical skill set and ability to effectively analyze sales data.

· Must have exceptional organizational skills.

· Exhibit high levels of flexibility and professionalism in extremely fast-paced environment

· Ability to influence and work through cross-functional teams without formal authority.

· Strong knowledge of electrical and power requirements (UL).

· LED and manufacturing knowledge.

· Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator & MS office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint).

· Fluent in Mandarin an asset.
