Job Description and Qualifications
Air Products Canada Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Air Products and Chemicals Inc., has manufacturing and distribution operations in Quebec, Ontario, and Alberta. Air Products core industrial gas business provides atmospheric and process gases serving a variety of customers in 50+ countries, including refining, chemical, gasification, metals, electronics, manufacturing, food and beverage, welding, and healthcare.
Reporting to the Sarnia Area Manager, this position will support our Sarnia Liquid Hydrogen production Facility as well as the Corunna Hyco Facility supplying customers throughout the Ontario and Northeastern US. For this position, the engineer will be based out of the Sarnia facility.
RESPONSABILITIES
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Reporting to the Sarnia Area Manager, this position will support our Sarnia Liquid Hydrogen production Facility as well as the Corunna Hyco Facility supplying customers throughout the Ontario and Northeastern US. For this position, the engineer will be based out of the Sarnia facility.
RESPONSABILITIES
- Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the plant and ensure the following disciplines are in place and functioning properly:
- Manage execution of key projects from cradle to grave
- Understand safe operating, design, permit limits; actively practice alarm management
- Develop and maintain troubleshooting skills and operational “know-how”
- Use and update P&IDs and Alarm & Trip summary
- Know the process technology and chemistry
- Implement and share best practices, train in their use. Learn from incidents and investigation.
- Follow and carry out selected MI programs
- Excel in application of safe work practices, participate in BSP
- Ownership and accountability
- Active participation in our safety program.
- Follow the guidelines of the AP Professional Practice Management Plan (PPMP) program.
- Daily support of plant operation.
- Assist and provide guidance during facility shut down and start up.
- Assist in gathering and analyzing of operating data.
- Facilitate and participation in Root Cause Investigations and Cost of Non-Conformance reviews.
- Follow-up on open action items from Root Cause Investigations events, reliability assessments, Hazard reviews, etc.
- Develop, write and close action items for the electronic Management of Change (eMOC) process
- Implement and share best practices, train in their use
- Support pipeline operation
- Support month end reports
- Other related duties
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- B.S. degree in Chemical, Materials or Mechanical Engineering.
- The successful candidate must be registered or eligible to register to be a P.Eng in Ontario.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in the energy sector would be considered an asset.
- Experience in cryogenic operation is preferred but not required
- Demonstrated managerial, leadership and interpersonal skills
- A track record of success on Safety, Environmental, Quality and Employee Involvement
- Strong commitment to employee involvement, team building and diversity
- Ability to interface with senior customer representatives.
- Able to travel across Canada and U.S.A, if required
