Recycling Attendant

Job Type: Full-time; 3 month term
Department: Solid Waste & Recycling
Pay Range: $20.86/hour
Hours: 40 hours/week
Duties include but not limited to:
- Accept recycled materials from the public, count and issue payment to the customer, and ensure that all material is correctly recorded
- Sort, count and prepare recyclable material for shipping
- Keep the depot and yard organized and tidy, and ensure all work and public areas are kept in a safe condition
- Responsible for the careful handling of the cash float
- Inform customers of proper sorting techniques for recyclable materials and the various items the depot accepts
- Assist with clean-up and maintenance of landfill area
- Ensure proper procedures are followed and depot paperwork is completed accurately
- Assist with monitoring and verifying compliance of loads entering the landfill, and;
- Other duties as required.
This position involves working with a wide variety of customers and the handling of heavy, often dirty materials in a noisy environment. Some duties involve outside work and may occur in poor weather conditions.
The Town of Watson Lake is unionized. The successful applicant will be obligated to become a union member under the Public Service Alliance of Canada.
