Harvest has an immediate opening for a SAGD Production Engineer, reporting to the Manager, Subsurface. This is a full time position located in Calgary, with a requirement for some travel to the BlackGold SAGD Facility near Conklin, AB. The successful candidate will work within a cross discipline team and will be responsible for the safe & compliant design, operation and optimization of multiple SAGD well pairs & associated support infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

· Provide production engineering expertise within a multi-disciplinary team to monitor, analyze and optimize SAGD well production

· Daily surveillance and troubleshooting of operating SAGD wells to ensure safe, reliable, compliant and cost-effective operations

· Collaborate with both Field Operations and Reservoir Engineering to ensure adequate field surveillance and production data integrity

· Design, implement, operate and optimize well completions & artificial lift including; sand control, layouts, wellhead, monitoring and Electric submersible pumps (ESP), programs and well servicing activities.

· Plan and manage new well start-ups

· Plan and manage well interventions, ESP conversions, new well completions

· Responsible for development & implementation of a well integrity program

· Preparing business case and manage budget & forecasts for production & related Opex.

· Identify and recommend new technologies to improve the SAGD recovery process.

· Support Engineering teams in optimization of associated surface facilities.

· Development of production profiles to support short term forecast and long-range plans

· Support development of diagnostic/data monitoring tool for well pairs and pads

· Responsible for well related regulatory requirements & compliance

· Responsible for effective design and operation of water source, disposal & observation wells.

· Act as technical resource and provide support and direction, where required, to field operations and other disciplines within the oilsands team

· Occasional travel to site to provide on-site support

· Support Production Accounting for volumetric reporting

Qualifications

· Professional Engineer with BSc in Engineering and registered with APEGA

· 10 years’ related production/reservoir engineering-related experience.

· 5+ years’ direct experience in SAGD production/reservoir engineering and operating SAGD projects

· SAGD field operating experience is an asset

· Strong data analytics skills

· Creative thinking approach for finding solutions to best optimize Production growth strategies

· Commitment to responsible development & technical excellence, demonstrated through HSE performance, innovation and continuous improvement.

· Strong written & verbal communication skills, supported by excellent technical/system skills.

· Positive attitude and team player – excels as part of a multi-disciplinary collaborative team.
