LaPointe-Fisher is an accredited 92 bed nursing home located in the heart of Guelph. We are a family-orientated and operated LTC Home providing quality and compassionate care and services in our community. We are continually striving for excellence in the provision of such care and services.

POSITION: Covid-19 Screener. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON). Under the general supervision of the ADON, the screener greets and follow Covid screening protocols and procedures with staff, residents, essential caregivers and visitors at the Home’s entrance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures all staff, residents, essential caregivers and visitors entering the Home follow proper precautionary measures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Provides masks to visitors and staff and ensures hand sanitizer is used as they enter the Home.
  • Utilizes the screening tools provided to assess eligibility for entrance, including screening for signs and symptoms.
  • Assists with sanitizing common surfaces at the entrance of the Home.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to work cooperatively with all staff, residents, essential caregivers and visitors and maintain a working climate that is positive, respectful.
  • Ensures the privacy, dignity and confidentiality of residents.
  • Reports for work on time.
  • Appears clean, neat, well-groomed and properly attired according to the dress code for the department.
  • Participates in in-services and continuing education.
  • Ability to work safely by following established safety practices and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proof of negative 2-step Tuberculosis skin tests
  • COVID-19 Vaccinated
  • Reference Check
  • Pleasant and polite demeanor
  • Able to handle upset and/or irate individuals with tact and diplomacy
  • General knowledge of cleaning methods
  • Able to consistently follow all current COVID screening protocols & procedures
  • Able to work autonomously and with direction
  • Must have effective oral and written communication skills in English
  • Successful candidate must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays

· Preference will be given to individuals with at least a Grade 12 education or equivalent

Job Type: Temporary Full-Time; Temporary Part-Time

Start Rate of Pay: $20.68/hr.
