POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Senior Developer (Full Stack) role is a key contributor within the DMS Technologies Inc. software engineering team. The successful candidate will contribute to the ongoing development of our software, as well as provide insight, recommendations, and suggestions on the entire Software Development Lifecycle.
Building test suites, offering guidance and leadership to the technical team, and bringing new ideas and perspectives are just some of the additional responsibilities of this position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Development
- Write, modify, integrate, and test front and back-end software.
- Write clean, secure, testable, and maintainable code.
- Design and maintain effective database schemas and queries.
- Write clean and effective documentation, both within the codebase and for use by other developers.
Planning
- Recommend ways to improve existing systems.
- Identify areas of improvement and provide suitable recommendations.
- Provide insight and recommendations on building reusable code and libraries.
Leadership
- Provide guidance and mentorship, and share knowledge with the development team to continually improve all aspects of software development.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
The successful applicant will have the following skills and knowledge;
- 4+ years of professional software development experience in PHP.
- 4+ years experience working with modern frameworks and/or APIs.
- Strong knowledge of modern JavaScript frameworks.
- Knowledge and experience building and working with RESTful APIs.
- Use of Git and GitHub
- Solid understanding of clean, secure, testable, and maintainable code.
The following skills/experience would be considered an asset;
- Experience with Symfony, CodeIgniter, AngularJS.
- Knowledge and Experience with SQL.
- Understanding of various Azure products.
- Experience with advanced/complex topics such as Queues, Caching, Events, etc.
OTHER
This position is a hybrid role and may require the successful applicant to work, on occasion, in-person, in our offices in St. Catharines, ON.
This position is being offered as full-time permanent 40 hours per week.
